Texas Holdem Rules
Texas Holdem follows a set of standard rules. The game is typically played with between two and ten players. Before the game begins, each player must place an ante and the player to the left of the dealer must place a “small blind” and a “big blind”. The blinds are bets that must be placed in order for the game to begin.
Once all players have placed their blinds, the dealer will deal two hole cards to each player, facedown. These cards are only seen by the player who was dealt them. Once this is done, a round of betting begins. At this point, players can either check, bet, call, raise or fold. After the first round of betting has concluded, the dealer will then deal three community cards, which are shared by all players and can be used to make the strongest five-card hand.
After the community cards are dealt, a second round of betting begins. After this round of betting is complete, the dealer will deal a fourth community card, followed by a third round of betting. Finally, the dealer will deal a fifth and final community card followed by the fourth and final round of betting.
Once all betting is complete, players must show their hole cards and the player with the strongest hand will win the pot. If two players have the same hand, the pot will be split between them.
